Coach Resources

1. Fill out a Coaching Interest Form. Travel team head and assistant coaches and coaches for the skill development and house league programs must complete this online form to be considered for a coach position. 
2. Head Coaches will be assigned teams by the Comets Board of Directors in May/June
3. Assistant Coaches will be picked by Head Coaches after their selection (Assistant Coaches must complete a Coaching Interest Form)

IMPORTANT: To be completed online as part of the coach full application include the following:

• Coaches Awareness Acknowledgement (included in on-line application)
• Participant Code of Conduct (included in on-line application)
• Mass Hockey Background Screening/CORI check (https://www.usahockey.com/backgroundscreen)

1. Please note the registration process refers to the coach as a player. Please use the +New Player 

2. Complete the mandatory USA Hockey Coaching Requirements

Due before August 1st each season

• Register as a member of USA Hockey. (Cost is $54 plus any affiliate fees) 
• Complete the background screening.  
• Complete the USA Hockey Safe Sport Training. (Required every year and cannot be added to a roster until completed). 
• Complete the online age-specific module(s) for the age level of play you are coaching.
• Cost is $20 for the 8U module, all others are $25. All modules only need to be completed once per age level. 

Due before Dec 31 each season

• Find, register, and attend the required Coaching Education Program Certification (CEP) Clinic ($65)
• Courses can be found in your Coaching Profile Page at USA Hockey Learning Center. Expert tip: This requirement is easy to put off but if you wait too long to sign up, you risk not being able to find a class that is available/works for your schedule and risk becoming non compliant 
• Note: You can only attend one clinic per season and all coaches must enter USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program at the 6U/8U clinic if coaching at the Learn To Play/Learn To Skate/6U/8U classification or Level 1 if they are coaching 10U classification and above. You can take clinics from June 15th-Dec. 15th each season.

All of the above requirements can be completed from your Coaching Profile Page at USA Hockey Learning Center which you will be able to access after you become a USA Hockey Coaching Member. 

**The Natick Comets will reimburse coaching for the cost to complete their requirements. Please submit the receipts for your required courses to treasurer@natickcomets.com**
