From the Rink to the Finish Line: Meet Comets Boston Marathon Runner Dean Casali!
26.2 miles. One hometown. One great cause. 💚💛
We're excited to introduce Dean Casali, Natick native, Comets dad, and our official runner in the 131st Boston Marathon on April 19, 2027!
Dean is taking on 26.2 miles with a goal close to home: raising $5,000 for the Natick Comets Hockey Club to help keep youth hockey affordable and accessible for local families.
From Growing Up in Natick to Raising a Comet
Born and raised in Natick, Dean remembers seeing the positive impact the Comets had on his friends growing up. Now, as a father to a player in the organization, he's experiencing that impact firsthand.
From on-ice development to teamwork, leadership, and friendships, Dean recognizes how much the Comets experience means to local kids and families — and the volunteers who make it possible.
"The volunteer coaches and staff put in an immense amount of effort with profound results with our children."
A Marathon Years in the Making
Running the Boston Marathon has been a longtime goal for Dean, but he wanted to make sure he was running for an organization that truly meant something to him.
"I have hoped to run the Boston Marathon for a very long time. However, I wanted the organization that I would run for to really mean something to me."
For Dean, that organization is the Natick Comets.
As he prepares for race day, he'll draw motivation from the positive experiences the Comets create for young athletes. So if you see Dean logging training miles around Natick, give him a wave and a big GO COMETS!
Help Dean Reach His $5,000 Goal!
As a nonprofit youth hockey organization, the Natick Comets rely on fundraising to help offset the costs of ice time, equipment, tournaments, and player development while keeping hockey accessible to our community.
Dean will be putting in the miles, and we're asking our Comets families, friends, and neighbors to rally behind him!
Every donation makes a difference, no matter the amount. Can't donate? Sharing his fundraiser and cheering him on are great ways to show your support.

One Runner. One Community. A Whole Lot of Comets Pride.
Dean's story is a great reminder of what makes community youth hockey special. Someone who grew up watching the Comets make a difference for his friends is now raising a young Comet of his own — and running 26.2 miles to give back.
Dean, thank you for representing our hockey community. We'll be cheering you on throughout your training and all the way to the finish line on Boylston Street!
